Marjorie Chan (陳以珏) is the Artistic Director of Theatre Passe Muraille, where innovation, accessibility, collaboration and community are at the heart of the company’s approach. Theatre Passe Muraille is aiming to become a relaxed venue in the 2023-2024 season, as modeled after the first relaxed venue in the world, the Battersea Arts Centre in London. Marjorie’s personal access journey began in 2008, when a Deaf individual requested a copy of her script that they could read while attending her play. Since then, engaging in an inclusive practice has led her to creative and innovative opportunities that she could not have imagined. Some of her work in this area includes ULTRASOUND by Adam Pottle (play which is 75% in ASL). contributing to the Deaf Artists & Theatres Toolkit (DATT), and co-creating the Blind-friendly production THE YEAR OF THE CELLO with Njo Kong Kie. She first began preliminary training in Relaxed Performances in 2015 through the British Council, and completed her training as an Access Activator in 2020. www.marjoriechan.com
